1970-79

Dr. Richard I. Moore (BS in psychology, ‘72) of Beavercreek, OH, is a senior consultant with ProChain, a company based in the Washington, D.C. area. Dick works with product development teams in large corporations to help them deliver projects successfully.

Dr. Joseph P. Hester (PhD in philosophy, ‘73) of Claremont, NC, has published three books since his retirement from the Catawba Valley school system in North Carolina, and his fourth titled Helping Educators Lead will be published this fall. Dr. Hester has teamed with H. Darrell Young (BS in psychology, ‘70) of Atlanta, to develop a training program in ethical leadership. Young is the retired President and CEO of HBO and Co., a healthcare information systems company, and HIE, a healthcare systems integration company.

Mac Enfinger (BS in chemistry, ’76) of Woodstock, received a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology, Emory University during commencement activities on May 12, 2003. Mac is a member of the North Georgia conference of the United Methodist Church.

Dr. Cynthia J. Kenyon (BS in biochemistry, ‘76) of San Francisco, CA, is the Herbert Boyer Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics, University of California, San Francisco and a newly elected member to the National Academy of Sciences.

1980-89

Dr. Cornelia I. Bargmann (BS in biochemistry, ‘81) investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and professor/vice chairman, department of anatomy, School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, is a newly elected member to the National Academy of Sciences.

Rev. Timothy Gadziala (AB in philosophy, ‘89) of Hapeville, is pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Carrollton.

David Shafer (AB in political science, ‘88) of Duluth, was re-elected to the State Senate, representing Gwinnett and Forsyth Counties. He has also been named Chairman of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology.

1990-99

J. Dale Dixon (BS in computer science and mathematics, ’92) of Cumming is Vice President of Information Systems of Heart Alert, Inc, which provides cardiac disease management services and software in Atlanta. He is married to Terry College alumna Karen Gaignard (BA in International Business, '92; MBA Kennesaw State University, '97).

Kimberly McClain Stroud (BS in genetics, ‘94) of Toccoa, is a pediatrician with Toccoa Clinic Medical Associates.

Shawn Turk (BS in zoology, ‘94) of Athens is a senior programmer/analyst at Mitchell & McCormick in Stone Mountain, which writes software for public health departments.

Dr. Carol Sue Ebel (MA ‘87, PhD ‘96 in history) and Dr. Joseph Gaines Weaver (AB ‘76 and PhD ‘99 in philosophy) have accepted faculty positions at The Liberty Center and Armstrong State University in Hinesville, GA.

William Barrett Coffman (BS in biology, ‘96) is the campus minister of the Campus View church of Christ in Athens, GA.

Todd Hayes (AB in history, ‘98) is the new assistant district attorney for Forsyth County, GA.

Aaron Miller (BFA in interior design, ‘98) is President and CEO of Formstudios in Athens, a multi-disciplined design house and visual communications firm, specializing in custom exhibit design and architectural visualization.

Sally Scheel (AB in speech communications ‘97) is director of marketing for Lowe Engineers in Atlanta. Lowe Engineers provides comprehensive engineering (civil & transportation), surveying, mapping and planning services for state and local governments, federal agencies, utility companies, industrial and private sector clients throughout the United States and abroad.

2000-02

Cooper Rowan (BS in computer science, ‘00) of Atlanta works for Staffing Professionals, Inc. in Kennesaw.

Amanda Monroe (BS in political science, ‘02) has opened Douglasville’s first coffee shop. Jittery Java is patterned after Athens-based Jittery Joe’s and serves micro-roasted specialty grade Arabica coffees delivered to Douglasville by the Athens company.
