The ensemble endeavors to shed perspective on the black experience and to preserve the legacy of Afro-centric theater through the production of plays, one acts, monologues, poems and other literary works written by black authors and playwrights. In two major productions and several minor productions per academic year BTE gives UGA students (not limited to theatre or performance majors) the opportunity to cultivate their theatrical abilities and a critical role in exposing auditions to cultural enrichment.
