UGA history major earns leadership award from Army ROTC

UGA senior Orry Young earned a leadership award from the U.S. Army Cadet Command after completing its Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge. The award

was presented the Warrior Forge Commander's Leadership Award at the July 21 LDAC graduation at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. He was ranked No. 1 among more than 200 cadets in his training company at the 29-day LDAC program, the capstone training and assessment exercise for the Army ROTC.

HHSOM student Wildman takes First Prize in Austria

On the heels of his second place finish at the International Instrumental Competition in Germany earlier this month, word now arrives that DMA student Simon Wildman has won First Prize in the Artist Tuba Solo Competition at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Linz, Austria.

Congratulations to the tuba studio of Dr. David Zerkel in the Hodgson School of Music on the outstanding achievements of Wildman, as well as DMA students David McLemore and Matt Shines, who have also distinguished themselves and UGA at national and international competitions over this last year.


LACSI Spring 2012 Student Awards

During spring semester 2012 the University of Georgia Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute (LACSI) carried out its first Director’s Award, Future Scholar Award and Research Development Award competitions. 

Undergraduate students compete annually for the Director’s Award, given to a LACS major who demonstrates superior academic achievement, and the Future Scholar’s Award, presented to a UGA student in any major for production of a superior research paper on a Latin American or Caribbean topic.  The Research Development Award is given annually to any graduate student who...
