Hodgson School hosts h.s. students during JanFest

Over 1,000 high school students from Georgia and South Carolina visited the Hugh Hodgson School of Music last month as part of the annual music festival, JanFest:

Earlier today, the UGA community gathered for the 13th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Breakfast in the Grand Hall of the tate Student Center. Sponsored by UGA, the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and the Clarke County School District, the MLK Freedom Breakfast commemorates the life of the late civil rights leader. The annual tradition that brings together our campus and community continues this week with the UGA Holiday Concerts on Dec. 3 and 4 in Hodgson Concert Hall at the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.:

The UGA Symphony Orchestra, directed by Mark Cedel, and the combined choirs of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music will perform John Rutter’s “Gloria,” the first suite of Robert Shaw’s “Many Moods of Christmas,” excerpts from Bach’s “Magnificat,” and other seasonal favorites.

Hodgson Wind Ensemble 'EPIC'

The Hodgson Wind Ensemble (HWE) takes to the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall stage tonight, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. for the November edition of the 2nd Thursday Scholarship concert series:

The performance comprises two pieces: David Maslanka’s Symphony No. 8 and Oliver Waespi’s “Audivi Media Nocte.”
