Congratulations to the Franklin College students and alumni who were awarded Fulbright awards to research, study and teach abroad:

10 University of Georgia students and alumni were offered grants to take their research and teaching to a global level through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. This marks the fourth straight year-and eighth time in the past nine years-that UGA has achieved a double-digit number of Fulbright offers.

Of the 10, six were able to take advantage of the opportunity. Four received academic grants, and two will be teaching English.

UGA Classics in Rome is currently underway under the direction of Professors Elena Bianchelli and Chris Gregg, a Mellon Professor of Classical Archaeology.

Participants and professors live in a small family-run, centrally located hotel in Rome and in their six-week stay they become intimately connected with the city and the Italian life style. The Red & Black explores a program whereby Army ROTC students are paid to learn a foreign language and study abroad:

The program outlines 10 different languages that are considered to be “critical languages” contracted cadets can take and receive a stipend for upon completion.
