Each Spring semester, the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences presents its annual award for excellence in academic advising, honoring one professional/staff advisor with the Outstanding Academic Advising Award. The recipient will receive an award of $1000 and a certificate of recognition at a Franklin College reception in late spring.
The purpose of the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award is to recognize Franklin College advisors for their advising accomplishments, commitment to students, and dedication to the UGA advising community and advising profession. The recipient of this award will be nominated for the UGA-wide Advisor Award and have the opportunity to be nominated for a NACADA advisor award.
The Franklin College invites nominations from advisors’ current or former advisees, advising colleagues, department chairs, or deans; self-nominations are also accepted. Any Arts and Sciences professional/staff member involved in the academic advisement of undergraduate students in the Franklin College may be nominated.
Nominations must be submitted through the online nomination form. This link is distributed to students through the Advising Assessment Survey, emails, and posted announcements. Written nominations turned in at 114 Memorial Hall or 164 Psychology will also be accepted. The nomination process will be ongoing, but nominations must be received by October 15th to be eligible for consideration in the current academic year.
Nominations will be evaluated on the evidence of effective advising qualities and practices that distinguish the nominee as an outstanding Academic Advisor. Additional information is available at on the Student Academic Services site.
