Grading Policy: Written and oral student reports; class discussion ATTENDANCE (2 unexcused absences will result in automatic dismissal from the course).

Week : 8/20/01 - Orientation and distribution of syllabus. Description of course, V assignment - Readings: Chapter l, Diving History Scientific Diving Technology.

Week 2: 8/27/01 - Reports on Ist assignment; discussion. Lecture. 2nd Assignment - Readings: Chapter 5 & 6

Week 3: 9/03/01 - NO CLASS, holiday

Week 4: 9/10/01 - Lecture on Scientific Div Procedures, Assignment - Chapter 9

Week 5: 9/17/01 - Lecture on Underwater Support System, Assignment - Chapter 11 NURP & AQUARIUS.

Week 6: 9/24/01 - Lecture on Rebreathers Chapter 14; Examples of Scientific uses.

Week 7: 10/1/01 - Nitrox. Chapter 15

Week 8: 10/8/01 - Mixed gas.  Chapter 16

Week 9: 10/15/01 - Chambers. Chapter 18

Week 10: 10/22/01 - Submersibles; ROVs and Autonomous Vehicles
