I am Associate Dean of International and Multidisciplinary
Programs in
Franklin College. In this role I serve as the College liaison
with all
Franklin study abroad programs as well as the African Studies
Institute,
the African-American Studies Program, the Center for Asian Studies,
the
Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute, the Linguistics
Program,
and the Women’s Studies Institute. I am also the primary
liaison for
Language and Social Sciences Departments – Anthropology,
Comparative
Literature, Geography, Germanic & Slavic Studies, Psychology,
Romance
Languages, Sociology, and Speech Communication.
Other duties
include interviewing prospective faculty members and
handling requests for leaves and Graduate Faculty status. I
also oversee
at the College level faculty requests for Study in a Second
Discipline,
and I coordinate the undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies
Program.
I hold the Ph.D. degree in Spanish from the University
of Michigan. I
have been a faculty member at the University of Georgia since
1992, and
served as Acting Head of the Department of Romance Languages
from
1998-2000 and permanent Head from 2000-2007. My research focuses
primarily on the medieval and early modern periods. |
