How to Convert Web Page Tables to Spreadsheets

When you have a table displayed in your web browser (e.g. Netscape) that you want to save and access as a spreadsheet, follow these five steps.

1. Select FILE > SAVE AS. This will pull up a dialog box where you can choose the location you want to save it (My Documents Folder is Recommended), as well as the name you want to save the file as.

2. Name the file something easy to remember and use a .html extension (Examples: table.html or data.html)

3. Open Excel (though this will work with many spreadsheet applications including Lotus 1-2-3)

4. Select FILE > Open. Choose the .html file you saved and click open. This will display your table as a spreadsheet.

5. If you wish to save it as a spreadsheet, Select FILE >SAVE AS and select the type of spreadsheet you would like to save as (*.xls is recommended). Click on Save and you are done.
