Welcome

Welcome!
We’re pleased that you decided to visit the web site of the Franklin College at Gwinnett.

Unlike the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences on UGA’s main campus in Athens, which dates back to 1801, the Franklin College at Gwinnett is in its infancy, having opened its office on the campus of the former Gwinnett University Center (GUC), now the campus of Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), in early August 2002, when it became part of UGA’s almost 20-year history of providing quality educational opportunities in Gwinnett County.  And a mere two weeks later when Fall Semester 2002 started, the Franklin College at Gwinnett began offering its first undergraduate degree program:  a degree completion program leading to a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in the Biological Sciences.

In the Fall of 2003, the Franklin College at Gwinnett added a Bachelor of Arts (AB) Interdisciplinary Studies degree with an emphasis in the Social Sciences, which allows students to choose a concentration in either psychology or sociology.  And in Spring Semester 2005, the Franklin College’s BS degree was switched from the IDS/Biological Sciences degree program to the BS in Biology degree.

UGA's undergraduate degree programs in Gwinnett, including those offered by the Franklin College at Gwinnett, are being phased out as the University System of Georgia Board of Regents has instead created a new four-year college, Georgia Gwinnett College,  at the former Gwinnett University Center location.

Even though our program will close its doors at the end of Spring Semester 2008, we will do everything we can to ensure that our students complete their studies and earn their BS or AB degree from UGA by that date.  And we will depart proud to have been a part of this wonderful enterprise that has enabled so many students of all ages and backgrounds to continue their education and earn a degree from one of the top 20 public research universities in the country.
