Foreign Language & Area Studies Programs

African: Swahili, Yoruba, Zulu
All African languages are in Comparative Literature.

Asian (East): Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese
All East Asian languages are in Comparative Literature.

Asian (South): Sanskrit, Hindi
Sanskrit is in Linguistics. Hindi is in Comparative Literature.

Asian (Southwest): Arabic, Hebrew
Arabic and Hebrew are in Religion.

Classical: Greek, Latin
Greek and Latin are in Classics.

German/Slavic: German, Russian

Romance: French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish


Courses in foreign Area Studies are available in the following major fields of study:
Anthropology, Art, Classics, Comparative Literature, Geography, History, and Religion. The School of Public and International Affairs offers courses in international studies and comparative politics.
