UGA HISTORY PROFESSOR EMERITUS NASH BONEY NAMED WINNER OF
AWARD BY GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF HISTORIANS
ATHENS, Ga. – Nash Boney, a professor of history emeritus from
the University of Georgia, has been named winner of the Hugh McCall
Award from the Georgia Association of Historians for his work in scholarship,
teaching and promotion of history in Georgia.
The award was presented to Boney during the 32nd annual meeting of
the group April 2-3 in Kennesaw. The organization, which has several
hundred members, consists of university-level historians throughout
the state.
Boney came to UGA in 1963 and stayed for two years before going to
Washington State University, where he served until 1968. He returned
to UGA that year and taught here until retiring in 1994.
He is the author of numerous books, including A Pictorial History
of the University of Georgia and Southerners All. His new book, The
University of Georgia Trivia Book, is now in press.
