UGA’s Institute for Women’s Studies launches genDIR, the Database for Gender Research
Athens, Ga. – The Institute for Women’s Studies at the University of Georgia has announced that the Database for Gender Research, or genDIR, is now available. GenDIR is a directory of gender-related scholarship and research connecting interested faculty at UGA.
GenDIR will create more opportunities for communication and collaboration between faculty in different disciplines by allowing scholars to search by keyword to see who else on campus uses gender as a component in their research. Faculty can log in to genDIR using their myUGA ID, enter information and search the directory using such keywords as race, work, media, etc.
“A main mission of the Institute for Women's Studies is to encourage and facilitate interdisciplinary research on women and gender at UGA,” says Patricia Miller, head of UGA’s department of psychology and a core member of the institute. “Toward this goal, genDIR will help researchers across campus locate other researchers with similar interests in order to collaborate on research, form research-related reading groups, or develop grant proposals. GenDIR also may stimulate team teaching.”
To learn more or to join genDIR, visit www.uga.edu/wsp or call Molly Moreland Myers at 706/542-0066.
