Chelsea Montgomery Machemehl Undergraduate Scholarship 2015-2016

Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2015

Eligibility:

An applicant must have completed at least one semester as an undergraduate student in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences prior to Spring 2015.
An applicant must be an undergraduate student in good standing at the time of submission of this application, as well as during any semester he/she is eligible to receive scholarship funds.
A one-page letter of application, which includes educational and career goals, must be submitted along with the attached form.
Two letters of recommendation attesting to an applicant’s personal attributes and/or academic qualifications must accompany the application. These letters are confidential and must be enclosed in sealed envelopes containing the signature of the person making the recommendation across the sealed flap. At least one of the letters must be from a UGA faculty member. The quality of these letters of recommendation is extremely important in this process. The people selected are asked to include in their letters of recommendation their relationship to the applicant and the length of time they have known the applicant. Letters from relatives are discouraged.
If 1-4 above are met, then a student is eligible to be considered for a Fall 2015 and/or Spring 2016 Scholarship. Continuation of funding beyond the initial period of award will require reapplication.
Students selected for this award must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours per semester in a degree program in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences during any semester for which they are eligible to receive the scholarship funds.
Preference will be given to students who have had leukemia; however, this is not a requirement to receive this award.

George Duncan Premedical Scholarship 2015-2016

Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2015

Eligibility:

An applicant must have completed forty eight (48) semester hours of study as an undergraduate student in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences by the end of Spring 2015.
An applicant must be an undergraduate student in good standing at the time of submission of this application, as well as during any semester he/she is eligible to receive scholarship funds.
Since these scholarships are need based, applicants must have filed a FASFA form prior to submitting this scholarship application. No exceptions will be made. Students whose financial aid information is complete with the Office of Student Financial Aid by May 1, 2015 will be considered.
A one-page letter of application, which includes career objectives and financial need, must be submitted along with the attached form.
One Faculty letter of recommendation attesting to an applicant’s personal attributes and/or academic qualifications must accompany the application. This letter is confidential and must be enclosed in a sealed envelope containing the signature of the person making the recommendation across the sealed flap. The quality of this letter of recommendation is extremely important in this process. The Director of Pre-medical Studies is not eligible to provide this recommendation letter.
If 1-5 above are met, then a student is eligible to be considered for a Fall 2015 and/or Spring 2016 Scholarship. The Scholarship is renewable.
The scholarship funds can be used for, but are not limited to, tuition, books, fees and other expenses that may enhance a pre-medicine student’s education and training, such as expenses for the Medical College Aptitude Test (MCAT) and/or MCAT tutorial programs.

Jo Ann Terry Walker Undergraduate/Graduate Scholarship 2015-2016

Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2015

Eligibility:

An applicant must be an undergraduate student or graduate student in the Franklin College majoring in Art, Drama, or Music. The applicant must be in good standing at the time of submission of this application, as well as during any semester he/she is eligible to receive scholarship funds. The selection criteria will be based on academic achievement, and while any student is eligible to apply, preference will be given to females 35 years of age or older.
A one-page letter of application, which includes educational and career goals, must be submitted along with the attached form.
Two letters of recommendation attesting to an applicant’s personal attributes and/or academic qualifications must accompany the application. These letters are confidential and must be enclosed in sealed envelopes containing the signature of the person making the recommendation across the sealed flap. At least one of the letters must be from a UGA faculty member. The quality of these letters of recommendation is extremely important in this process. The people selected are asked to include in their letters of recommendation their relationship to the applicant and the length of time they have known the applicant. Letters from relatives are discouraged.
If 1-3 above are met, then a student is eligible to be considered for a Fall 2015 and/or Spring 2016 Scholarship. A scholarship recipient will remain eligible for this scholarship without reapplication, as long as he/she remains in good standing academically.

Dr. Daniel E. and Muriel H. Nathan Award for Pre-Medical Studies 2015-2016

Eligibility:

Students who have completed the second year of study in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences by the end of Spring 2015.
An applicant must be an undergraduate student in good standing at the time of submission of this application, as well as during any semester he/she is eligible to receive scholarship funds.
Since these scholarships are need based, applicants must have filed a FASFA form prior to submitting this scholarship application. No exceptions will be made. Students whose financial aid information is complete with the Office of Student Financial Aid by May 1, 2016 will be considered.
The applicant must contribute to personal education expenses through either a current job or previous savings.
A one-page letter of application, which includes career objectives and explanation of number 4, must be submitted along with the attached form.
One Faculty letter of recommendation attesting to an applicant’s personal attributes and/or academic qualifications must accompany the application. This letter is confidential and must be enclosed in a sealed envelope containing the signature of the person making the recommendation across the sealed flap. The quality of this letter of recommendation is extremely important in this process. The Director of Pre-medical Studies is not eligible to provide this recommendation letter.
If 1-6 above are met, then a student is eligible to be considered for a Fall 2015 and/or Spring 2016 Scholarship.
