Franklin College of Arts & Sciences Scholarships

 

Undergraduate Students – Application deadline is May 11, 2018

All applicants MUST provide:

  1. Completed application: See PDF for undergraduate students
  2. A one-page statement of purpose which includes educational goals and/or financial need. (Use standard font type/size for ease of reading)
  3. Must provide two letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s personal attributes and/or academic qualifications. These letters are confidential and must be enclosed in sealed envelopes containing the signature of the person making the recommendation across the sealed flap. At least one of the letters must be from a UGA faculty member.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A COMPLETED FASFA FILED (https://fafsa.ed.gov/). Your application will not be considered without this process being completed.

  • Dr. George Clovis Duncan Pre-Med Scholarship
    • Must be undergraduate level and have a financial need
    • Must be pre-medicine student
    • Must have completed 60 hrs. of coursework
       
  • Franklin College Board of Advisors Scholarship
    • Must be undergraduate level and have a financial need
    • Must have completed 12 hrs. of UGA coursework
       
  • Charles Ivey Patterson Jr. Memorial Scholarship
    • Must be undergraduate level and have a financial need
    • No fraternity/sorority members considered
       
  • Charles Ivey Patterson Sr. Memorial Scholarship
    • Must be undergraduate level and have a financial need
    • No fraternity/sorority members considered
       
  • Willie Anne Rowe Patterson Memorial Scholarship
    • Must be undergraduate level and have a financial need

    • Must be undergraduate level
    • Must be a Fine Arts major
       
  • Sam and Grace Murray Scholarship
    • Must be undergraduate level
    • Based on academics and financial need
       
  • Dr. Daniel and Muriel H. Nathan Scholarship
    • Must be undergraduate level and have financial need
    • Must be pursing an MD degree
       
  • Christopher Henry Vought Scholarship in Science Policy
    • Must be undergraduate level
    • Students must be studying or interning with the Washington Semester Program (WSP) http://dcsemester.uga.edu/
       
  • Chelsea Montgomery Machemehl Scholarship
    • Open to undergraduate and graduate level students
    • Preference will be given to a student who has had leukemia
       
  • Jo Ann Terry Walker Scholarship
    • Open to undergraduate and graduate level students
    • Students must be majoring in Art, Music, or Drama/Theatre
    • Preference will be given to females age 35 and over

    • Must be in good academic standing
    • Must work in area of cancer research
       
  • Grimes Family Distinguished Graduate Fellowship in Natural Sciences 
    • Application deadline September 28, 2018
    • Must be in good academic standing
    • Must work in area of cancer research
    • Must be a student majoring in a Natural Science degree

FRANKLIN-CORTONA STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS

OFFERED EACH SEMESTER

These are Franklin College scholarships that support students majoring in Art and Art History who plan to study abroad at the UGA Cortona Study Abroad Program.  Students should visit the GoAbroad Portal to determine each semester’s deadline.

  • DEL MARTIN AMICA di CORTONA SCHOLARSHIP
    • These scholarships are in the range of $1,000-$1,500 per student
       
  • RICK JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP
    • These scholarships are in the range of $1,200-$1,500 per student
       
  • KEHOE SCHOLARSHIP
    • These awards are up to $2,000 for undergraduates and up to $3,000 for graduate students
       
  • JANE WILLSON SCHOLARSHIP
    • These scholarships are in the range of $3,000-$5,000 per student
       
  • JUDY VOSS JONES CORTONA SCHOLARSHIP
    • Available only to Art majors with area studies declared in Drawing or Painting, these scholarships are in the range of $1,000-$1,500 per student.
       
  • MIKE NICHOLSON DRAWING & PAINTING
    • Available only to Art majors with area studies declared in Drawing or Painting, these awards are up to $500 per student
       

FRANKLIN SUMMER STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS

OFFERED ONCE A YEAR

These are Franklin College scholarships that support any Franklin College major who plans to attend a UGA-approved study abroad program during the summer.  Students can apply between November through January prior to the planned summer studies abroad.  Applications are accepted at the GoAbroad Portal.  The deadline is always in early February.

  • CRAIGE GLOBAL FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP
    • Available to Franklin undergraduate students who wish to participate in an official UGA study abroad program in a non-English speaking environment. This scholarship is awarded in the range of $1,000 to $1,200 per student.
       
  • TOME FAMILY STUDY ABROAD FUND
    • This scholarship is awarded in the range of $800 to $1,000 per student
       
  • CASSANDRA YOUNG AND JEFFREY SHERMAN STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
    • This scholarship is awarded in the range of $500 to $1,000 per student
