Academic Advisor III
Rebecca Baggett is the Humanities Facilitator for the AB advising group and works with students in all AB degrees, although she is primary for Arabic, classics, English, film studies, linguistics, romance languages, and theatre. She is a Safe Space ally and welcomes the opportunity to work with students from many different backgrounds and cultures.
Rebecca is a North Carolina native and first-generation college student with a BA in classical languages from Salem College. Before joining the Franklin College, she worked as an academic advisor at Georgia Southern and Albany State. In 1998, she received UGA’s Professional Division Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Advisor Award.
In addition to her work as an advisor, Rebecca is also a writer with four poetry collections, the most recent of which are Thalassa (Finishing Line Press) and God Puts on the Body of a Deer (Main Street Rag). Her work has received four Pushcart nominations and appears in numerous journals and anthologies. When not writing or hanging out with students, Rebecca enjoys gardening, reading, attending plays, visiting cathedrals, museums, and bookstores with her husband, and all the beach time her schedule permits.
