Ally Community-Building Workshop

In this workshop hosted by the College of Education's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, you will learn skills related to generating awareness of how to leverage privilege for social change, initiating courageous conversations and dialogues across differences, consciousness-raising in speaking up and disrupting patterns of oppression and sustaining social change strategies that are consistent and meaningful.

This workshop counts toward the faculty/staff Certificate in Diversity & Inclusion.

Poetry Reading: Keetje Kuipers

As part of the Big Read Event series, Keetje Kuipers, an award-winning poet and assistant professor at Auburn University, will do a poetry reading. Her poetry focuses on isolation, longing and loneliness and her latest book, "The Keys to the Jail," looks closely at the role of women and identity. Part of the Seat in the Shade Poetry Series.

Poetry Reading: Ann Fisher-Wirth

As part of the Big Read events, Ann Fisher-Wirth, a celebrated poet, will read from her collections on eco-poetry. Fisher-Wirth teaches at the University of Mississippi and is a Fellow of the Black Earth Institute, an organization dedicated to the arts, social and environmental justice, and to matters of the spirit.
