First Year Orientation Facts

• Orientation is a Univsersity of Georgia requirement.
• First Year students can change their major at Orientation but are encouraged to do so before hand.
• First Year students will only be advised during Orientation.
• On Day 1 of First Year Orientation sessions, there is time set aside for students to take placement exams. The cost of these placement exams is already figured into your orientation fees.

  English Placement Test: With this test you can earn credit for ENGL 1101 (3 hours) and place into ENGL 1102. If you do not have a 3 on AP English, you should take this test even if you are not REQUIRED to do so. If AP scores have not arrived yet you should go ahead and take the exam.
  
  Math Placement Test: This test can exempt you from MATH 1101 and MATH 1113 and should be taken by all entering freshman.
  
  Foreign Language Placement: Taking the first semester of your high school language WITHOUT first taking the foreign language placement is NOT an option at UGA. If you wish to continue your high school language you must take the placement test.
  
  CHEM placement is only for students who excel in CHEM and plan on majoring in the subject
