Amber Fetner joined the Franklin College in 2002 and advises students majoring in music, dance, communication studies, criminal justice, comparative literature, Chinese, Japanese, and other AB majors. She also works with undecided AB students. Ms. Fetner particularly enjoys helping students find creative combinations of the many majors, minors, and certificate programs in Franklin College to meet their academic goals and interests. She has been involved in efforts to organize and share information with advisors across campus to improve the quality of advising at the University of Georgia through resource development and presentations. She is dedicated to promoting diversity at the University of Georgia and is a Safe Space ally.
Ms. Fetner completed a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education at Shorter College in Rome, GA. She also completed her MA in Ethnomusicology at The University of Chicago. Her areas of interest include popular sacred music, nationalism in public music education, and music performed and created by
women.In addition to her position in Franklin College, Ms. Fetner is the Music Director for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens. She has been very active in the Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network. Her most recent work with that organization was as Chair of the Professional Leadership Development Group, a task force which created the new certification program for UU Music Leaders.
