Dr. Alice Kinman joined the Office of Academic Advising in
2006 and advises primarily AB students, especially history
and English majors, as well as BS psychology.
From
2001 to 2003, Dr. Kinman served as the administrative coordinator
for the English department’s undergraduate advising
office, where she was instrumental in the development of the
dual-degree with the College of Education.
Dr. Kinman, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, earned a B.A. in English from Converse College and a PhD in English from UGA, with a specialty in American literature She has published essays on Edith Wharton, Oscar Wilde, and domestic fiction of the mid-nineteenth century.
Dr. Kinman has taught at UGA and at West Georgia University. She is a recipient of the Fulbright award, which allowed her to spend a year at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, teaching courses in American literature and culture. At all three universities she has been involved in developing innovative courses and programs designed to enhance students’ learning experience and sharpen their research skills.
In addition to her work as an academic advisor, Dr. Kinman is an Athens-Clarke County Commissioner. |
