Dean's Letter of Recommendation/Certification
Many law school applications require a Dean's Letter
of Recommendation/Certification. This is a form processed in the Dean
of Student's Office or in the Dean's Office in the school or college
in which you are enrolled. If a school requires this letter, it will
be included in the application from that school; if you do not have
a form requesting one, then that particular school does not require
one. The five ABA schools in Georgia (UGA, Georgia State, Emory, John Marshall ,and
Mercer) do not require Dean's Letters.
If a school's application does require one, you need
to get these forms to the Office of Judicial Programs to begin the
certification process. Once the form has been completed by the Office of Judicial Programs (judicial record) and the Vice President for Instruction (academic honesty record), it will be sent to the Office of the Registrar for final processing and mailing. The entire process usually takes between five to seven working days.
You may take them by in person, or you can
mail them. Make sure you include a self addressed, stamped envelope
for each Certification Form so that they can be mailed to either you
or the law school to which you are applying.
Hand deliver or mail your request for a Dean's
Certification to:

are required to complete the Certification).
