The ROS announcement letter from Associate Dean
Hodler states that most graduate students receiving graduate assistantships
or comparable traineeships or fellowships are not eligible. Therefore
we ask that, as you consider your students as potential applicants,
you take into account what you know of their financial need status.
Since Arts and Sciences may only send forward ten nominees we
want to avoid, as much as possible, sending forward students who
will be eliminated from the selection process because they do
not meet the financial need criterion.
Completion of a FAFSA form (obtainable
at the Office of Financial Aid) is necessary for final
selection for the program, and a relatively in-depth
application form must be completed. Application forms
and information packets, which may be xeroxed, will be
sent out along with the announcement of the nomination
deadlines.
2003 timetable for Regent's Opportunity
Scholarships:
According to an email received on August 8, 2003 from Interim Associate
Vice Chancellor for Student Services Tonya R. Lam of the Board of Regents: "As
a result of the request by the State to cut the budget further by 2.5%,
the Regents Opportunity Grant allocation has been placed on hold. As of
today, I regret that we will not be able to award the ROG allocation
for 2003-2004."
