GEORGE DUNCAN PREMEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP
2008-2009

Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2008

Eligibility:

  1. An applicant must have completed forty eight (48) semester hours of study as an undergraduate student in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences by the end of Spring 2008.

  2. An applicant must be an undergraduate student in good standing at the time of submission of this application, as well as during any semester he/she is eligible to receive scholarship funds.

  3. Since these scholarships are need based, applicants must have filed a FASFA form prior to submitting this scholarship application. No exceptions will be made.  Students whose financial aid information is complete with the Office of Student Financial Aid by May 1, 2008 will be considered.

  4. A one-page letter of application, which includes career objectives and financial need, must be submitted along with the attached form.

  5. One Faculty letter of recommendation attesting to an applicant’s personal attributes and/or academic qualifications must accompany the application.  This letter is confidential and must be enclosed in a sealed envelope containing the signature of the person making the recommendation across the sealed flap.  The quality of this letter of recommendation is extremely important in this process.  The Director of Pre-medical Studies is not eligible to provide this recommendation letter.

  6. If 1-5 above are met, then a student is eligible to be considered for a Fall 2008 and/or Spring 2009 Scholarship. The Scholarship is renewable.

  7. The scholarship funds can be used for, but are not limited to, tuition, books, fees and other expenses that may enhance a pre-medicine student’s education and training, such as expenses for the Medical College Aptitude Test (MCAT) and/or MCAT tutorial programs.
