Franklin College Classes which have been suggested by departments as useful for students who need upper division electives to fulfill the graduation requirement of 39 upper division courses (includes the major).

1. Most Political Science courses have only POLS 1101 as a prerequisite. POLS 3200, Introductory International Relations and POLS 3300, Comparative Politics are recommended but not required for 4000-level classes in those areas. (From Arnold Fleischmann, 25 May 1998)

GEOG 1101 (Introductory Human Geography) is the ONLY prerequisite for:

5. Sociology: All of Sociology's 3000-level courses, with the exception of SOCI 3590, SOCI 3600 and SOCI 3700, are open to non-majors who have taken either SOCI 1101 or SOCI 1600.

6. Speech Communication. The following SPCM upper division courses have no prerequisites:

Cellular Biology: "A number of courses in CBIO -- 3000, 3200, 3700, 3800, 4500, 4600 and 4730--are open to students with BIOL 1107/1108; one of those (CBIO 4600) is also available to students with 1103/1104.   • PBIO 3650: Natural History of Georgia Plants. 3 hours. No Prerequisites

11. Mathematics: The following two new math courses have been passed along as good upper-division courses for non-majors. 

  • MATH 4760 Mathematics and Music, Dr. Benson, to be offered spring 2000, prerequisite MATH 2210 or MATH 2310H or MATH 2410H.
  • MATH 4710 Mathematics of Finance, Dr. Burgoyne, to be offered spring 2000, prerequisite MATH 2210 or MATH 2310H or MATH 2410H.
