area who are in their first or second year of study and who
meet admission requirements are eligible. |
| Q: |
How do I apply for University Studies? |
| A: |
Students must apply for regular undergraduate admission to
the University of Georgia. |
| Q: |
What are the specific eligibility/admission requirements
for University Studies? |
| A: |
Eligibility requirements are set by UGA's Faculty Admissions
Committee.
Freshman: Students who do not meet regular admission
standards are automatically considered for admission to University
Studies. Requirements for admission to University Studies
are generally less stringent than for regular admission.
Students must have completed all College Preparatory Curriculum
requirements.
Transfer: Most students enter the University Studies
program as freshmen. Occasionally after reviewing transfer
students for regular admission, it may be recommended that
these students begin their studies in University Studies.
Many of these transfer students have not attended college
in several years and have not accumulated many hours of college
work.
Nontraditional: Students who have been out of school
five or more years and have accumulated fewer than 30 transferable
hours may qualify for admission to University Studies. |
| Q: |
What program of study would I follow after being admitted
to University Studies? |
| A: |
Students admitted to University Studies are eligible to enroll
in any regular academic course consistent with their academic
programs. Upon completion of 30 semester hours with a minimum
cumulative GPA of 2.0 students may transfer to another academic
department to continue their studies. Some programs have higher
GPA requirements. |
| Q: |
What are the specific program requirements of University Studies? |
| A: |
University Studies students are expected to earn a 2.0 cumulative
GPA by the time they reach 30 cumulative hours. Students are
given an additional 10 hours to attain the 2.0 GPA; however,
those students who have not attained a cumulative GPA of 2.0
by 40 hours may not continue their studies at UGA. In addition,
students may not exceed 60 hours of combined external and internal
credit hours, including a minimum of 30 cumulative UGA hours
with a 2.0 UGA cumulative average. |
| Q: |
Are there special programs provided by University Studies
that will assist me in pursuing my educational goals? |
| A: |

offer a variety of academic and student support services designed
to help students succeed in all aspects of their college experience
and beyond. Central to this support system are a professional
academic advising program and a course, UNIV 1118-Strategies
for Academic Success, which University Studies students take
their first or second semester. |
| Q: |
Are University Studies students regarded as full-fledged UGA
students with all the rights and privileges thereof? |
