Program Requirements
Students admitted to Arts and Sciences-University Studies may enroll
in any regular academic course consistent with their academic programs.
Students must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours and earn a minimum
2.0 UGA cumulative grade point average in University Studies prior to
transferring to another academic department. However, students should
note that some programs require a grade point average higher than a
2.0.
Although students are expected to earn a 2.0 grade point average
by the time they reach 30 cumulative hours, they may receive a grace
period equal to 10 additional hours. Students who do not achieve the
required minimum 2.0 UGA cumulative grade point average upon completing
the maximum 40 hours may not continue their studies at the University
of Georgia.
Students must acknowledge in writing the requirement to achieve a
minimum 2.0 UGA cumulative grade point average by the time they earn
the maximum 40 semester hours.
Academic advisors notify University Studies students who finish the
minimum 30 semester hours with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA complete
a Change of Major form in order to move to the academic program of
their choice. Students in good standing with the University who have
not reached the minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA are permitted to continue
in University Studies until the maximum 40 semester hours are reached.
