Barbara Methvin Lecture

LloydPrattBook.jpgThe fourth annual Barbara Methvin Lecture will be given by Lloyd Pratt, a professor at Oxford University. Pratt's topic is "A Woman Reading Emerson in the American South." Pratt is an expert on Southern and African-American literature and is the author of "The Strangers Book: The Human of African American Literature" and "Archives of American Time: Literature and Modernity in the Nineteenth Century." Dr. Pratt is the author of Archives of American Time: Literature and Modernity in the Nineteenth Century (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2010); The Strangers Book: The Human of African American Literature (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2015), and many essays on Southern and African American literature, critical theory, and the literature and cultures of New Orleans. He holds a Ph.D. from Brown University, and has previously taught at Harvard, Yale, and Michigan State.
