Concert: UGA Opera Scenes

The UGA Opera Theatre at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music will bring scenes from some of the world’s most famous operas to the stage.

This showcase of UGA’s exceptional opera performers is sure to dazzle and delight, with scenes from a wide array of operas.

Concert: UGA Symphonic Band

The UGA Symphonic Band, led by Michael Robinson, the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music’s director of athletic bands, performs its final concert of the spring. The band, comprised of music majors, minors and non-majors, focuses on the classic band repertoire and as well as exciting new music.

Concert: UGA Tuba Euphonium Ensemble

The UGA Tuba Euphonium Ensemble will be guest conducted by Jaclyn Hartenberger, director of the UGA Wind Symphony, in a program of original works and transcriptions.

The ensemble comprises the students of David Zerkel, a professor of tuba and euphonium at the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

Concert: Hodgson Wind Ensemble

The Hodgson Wind Ensemble will perform its penultimate spring concert. The evening’s program includes "...and the mountains rising nowhere" by Joseph Schwantner, Gustav Holst’s “Hammersmith” and “Baron Cimetière’s Mambo” by Donald Grantham.

"A Night at the Morton: Celebrating American Roots Music."

"A Night at the Morton: Celebrating American Roots Music." American roots music comes alive with performances from the McIntosh County Shouters, The Skillet Lickers and Tony Bryant.

Attendees will see and hear the origins of American music in this concert presented by the Athens Music Project, an initiative of the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts. Admission is free, but tickets are required.

Faculty Concert

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra first violinist Kenn Wagner will join UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music faculty members Michael Heald, an associate professor of violin; Maggie Snyder, an associate professor of viola; David Starkweather, a professor of cello; and Liza Stepanova, an assistant professor of piano, for a free recital.
