The National Endowment for the Humanities announced the winners of the Chronicling America Data Challenge, and among them is Claudio Saunt from the department of history for his USNewsMap.com. The Fischoff National Chamber Music Association sponsors the nation's largest chamber music competition at Notre Dame University. Congratulations to Hugh Hodgson School of Music students Trevor Barroero, Lauren Floyd, and Wesley Sumpter, also known as Lineage Percussion, who were named the bronze medalist of the 2016 Fischoff Competition. They are the first percussion ensemble in the 43-year history of Fischoff to be a finalist in the senior division of the competition.

Catherine "Cali" Callaway and Morrison Nolan have received 2016 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships, a premier academic award for undergraduate students pursuing careers in science, mathematics and engineering:

The scholarship, which awards up to $7,500 toward the cost of tuition, fees, books and room and board, recognizes exceptional sophomores and juniors across the nation. Since 1995, 51 UGA students have received the award.
