Overview

About the Degree: 

Psychology is the scientific study of thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Work in our department ranges from the study of neuroscience and genetics, to organizations and cultures, to understanding and treating mental illness – and everything in between.  

Interesting Facts: 
We have one on the most popular majors on campus with over 1500 undergraduate students.
Our students are often double majors, commonly with Biological Sciences, Sociology and Criminology. An area of emphasis in Neuroscience is available.

Other Degrees/Programs Offered: 

We offer Ph.D. degrees in Psychology in three programs: Behavioral and Brain Sciences, Clinical and Industrial/Organizational. We also offer an MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the Gwinnett campus.

Beyond the Classroom

Conducts studies on the development of visual attention and learning in young infants

Possible Job Titles: 

Individuals with advanced degrees in Psychology can pursue clinical and counseling careers in hospitals, schools and other public institutions, and private practice. They can pursue research and teaching careers at universities and colleges, research institutions and other settings.

Those with undergraduate degrees in Psychology enter jobs in many fields, including human resources, sales and customer service, and administrative functions. They make strong candidates for graduate study in a wide array fields including, in addition to Psychology itself, medical school, nursing, physician’s assistant, business, law, and others.
