Joy Pope is a communications and content manager for the University of Georgia’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, where she tells stories about faculty, students, and research in the humanities and social-behavioral sciences. Her work explores what scholarship in these fields reveals about human experience, culture, and society, as well as how it influences the ways people understand and respond to contemporary challenges.

Before joining UGA, Pope served as executive director of the Decatur Book Festival, developing partnerships across the literary and cultural community, including with PEN America and the National Book Foundation. She later led grant writing and management for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.

Pope holds an MFA in two genres from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from St. John’s College’s Great Books Program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Oregon.
