UGA Opera Theatre: Opera Scenes

flyer associated with event
Virtual Event

The UGA OPERA THEATRE will be presenting a semi-staged concert with piano and singers of operatic duets, trios, and quartets live-streamed from Hodgson Hall. The live-streaming online can be accessed by opening the Hugh Hodgson School of Music website at music.uga.edu and clicking on the home page Live Streaming button.

The concert consists of music from different historical periods, styles, and composers. One of the compositions, which will be heard for the first time at UGA, is a trio from the only remaining opera written by a relatively unknown composer, Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St. George, who has been called the Black Mozart and whose music is now receiving deserved recognition.

The Opera Theatre is pleased to present a sample of his music in our desire to introduce new and exciting opera selections to our audience. The rest of the program includes a mixture of operatic greats from Mozart, Verdi, Strauss, Bizet, and Beethoven. The Opera Theatre Ensemble consists of wonderful undergraduate and graduate singers who are well on their way to professional music careers.

Tune-in live via music.uga.edu/live-streaming.
