Career excellence from our colleagues, students, and alumni decorate our March kudos with accomplishments, a world premiere, and awards for distinction. Among the recent awards news:

 

Yadira Castillo, academic advisor for the Microbiology Dept. and in Biology, is the recipient of the 2023 UGA Outstanding Academic Advisor Award and will now go forward as UGA’s nominee for the national NACADA Outstanding Academic Advisor Award

Kestrina Shrestha, academic advisor for the Math Dept., is the recipient of this year’s UGA Outstanding New Academic Advisor Award! She’ll now go forward as UGA’s nominee for the national NACADA Outstanding New Academic Advisor Award

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has appointed Candace M. Stanciel (A.B. '02) to serve as the city’s chief equity officer

Jean F. Martin-Williams, associate dean in the Franklin College and a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, is one of two UGA faculty members named University Professors in recognition of their significant impact on the university above and beyond their normal academic responsibilities

Nancee Reeves, senior lecturer in the department of English, has received the 2023 University of Georgia Award for Excellence in Teaching

91 current UGA faculty, including 31 from the Franklin College, who have completed the Active Learning Summer Institute (2018-2022) were recognized with the distinction of the Active Learning Leader Certificate

For the third time in six years, Viqtory Media has named the University of Georgia the No. 1 Military Friendly tier 1 research institution

The UGA Hodgson Singers performed “Ambassadors: Music for Sharing” on March 16 as part of the Thursday Scholarship Series for the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music. This concert included the world premiere of “i gained it so,” an original composition by student composer-in-residence Claudia Beroukhim with text by Emily Dickenson

Katie Ehrlich, assistant professor of psychology, is one of three UGA faculty members honored with the Presidents’ Award of Distinction for Team Science from the Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance
