Classic City Band Evening Holiday Concert

State Botanical Garden of Georgia Visitor Center and Conservatory

The Classic City Band will perform holiday music during an evening concert in the festively-decorated conservatory.

The concert band’s repertoire includes all types of music: marches, jazz, pop, show tunes, excerpts from operas and musicals, as well as traditional and classical selections. We normally perform 6-7 concerts a year, including Memorial Day, Christmas, and Fourth of July programs.

You may have heard our band play on the Fourth of July celebration at Bishop Park in Athens or at a holiday concert at the Georgia State Botanical Gardens. We have performed for the Watkinsville Spring and Fall Festivals, the Madison Cultural Center, and at the Spring Festival in Greensboro, Georgia.

The Classic City Band of Athens, Georgia is the oldest continuously functioning community band in Georgia. The band was founded in 1976 for the purposes of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the American concert band. On September 7, 2006, Athens Mayor Heidi Davison and the Athens Clarke-County Commission issued a proclamation declaring The Classic City Band “the official municipal band of Athens, Georgia.”
