UGA Main Library

The UGA Department of Classics presents Homerathon. Faculty, college and high school students, administrators, alumni, local officials, journalists, and musicians join in a two-day reading of the entire text of Homer’s Iliad. From the podium in front of the Main Library on historic North Campus volunteer readers from all over north Georgia collaborate on the event.

Each volunteer will be assigned about 150 lines of Stanley Lombardo’s Iliad translation (with a pronunciation guide). Reading will commence at 9 AM both days and go until around 5 PM. UGA President Jere Morehead will deliver a welcome to the participants and the audience on Tuesday.
