Franklin faculty continue to be quoted widely in the news media. A sampling from March 2013:

Research on potential triggers for eating disorders by associate professor Ping Shen featured widely in media including Yahoo! News, Medical News Today, Health Canal and others

Research led by assistant professor of chemistry Tina Salguero into a pigment known as Egyptian blue that may have modern applications in telecommunications or security ink formulations was reported by History.com and Science Daily

Geography professor and director of the UGA Atmospheric Sciences program Marshall Shepherd was quoted in a CNN article on climate change extremes

Shepherd was also quoted in a different story about the uncertainties of weather forecasting on Climate Central

The discovery of important genetic clues about the history of micro-organisms by microbiology professor Barnie Whitman and Ph.D student Felipe Sarmiento was featured in a story on Astrobiology.com

An article on GPB.com quoted associate professor John Knox and Marshall Shepherd on research by Knox about using Facebook to track tornado debris. Knox's study was also featured on ABC News, FOX News, the Albany (NY) Times-Union and dozens of other outlets. Knox was also featured on network television talking about this research on NBC Nightly News and the Today Show

A Salon.com article about how the South still lies about the Civil War quotes from Spalding Distinguished Professor James Cobb's book, "Away Down South: A History of Southern Identity."

Maine science faculty members Patricia Yager and Samantha Joye are quoted in an Athens Banner-Herald article on women scientists discussing their careers at a UGA panel

“A University of Georgia professor has crafted a way of pulling energy out of the air,” reports the Athens Banner-Herald in a front-page story. Research by professor of biochemistry and molecular biology Michael W. W. Adams, in cooperation with colleagues at North Carolina State University, is reported widely in media and on the Web, including Biomass Magazine, eBioNews and Green Car Congress
