Black Excellence Through Time

exterior of MLC
Tate Student Center, Intersection - 45 Baxter Street, Athens, GA 30605

“Black Excellence Through Time” is a 60th anniversary of desegregation event for attendees to celebrate and acknowledge the black history at UGA. The program will seek to elevate the importance of black history on campus.

In 1961, when Hamilton Holmes and Charlayne Hunter- Gault set foot on UGA campus, they set a precedent of excellence for all black students. The program will include an informative segment regarding black history on campus. It will then proceed to an open activity and discussion as attendees work to create a physical timeline of the aforementioned history.
