Position Evaluation Process

By:
Alan Flurry

As discussed in the Franklin Works Town Hall meeting on March 3, 2021, one of the first steps in the transition process is to conduct the position evaluation process. The focus of the position evaluation will be to identify the following:

  1. Common tasks across departments
  2. Tasks missing from existing job descriptions or tasks that need to be revised to more accurately reflect the actual work
  3. Unique work needs within each department (what work responsibilities does Franklin need to keep local)
  4. Technical/functional skills needed to perform critical technical tasks

Input from staff in this process is essential to the accuracy of this information and the overall transition. To ensure we hear from everyone and account for all of the possible work performed across our departments, the Franklin Works Project Team is gathering this information from an online questionnaire completed via small focus groups . The process will be conducted by Dr. Brian Frost, Director of the Professional I-O Psychology Master’s Program. He will be assisted by two graduate students.

It is important to note that the position is evaluation is not a performance evaluation. The position evaluation will be centered on the tasks performed, not the performance of the tasks.

On March 23, selected participants were invited to join a focus group. Participation in the focus groups is crucial to the entire project. Our thanks to all staff who will  be a part of these initial groups and inform the position evaluation process.

Questions about the performance evaluation process, or anything related to Franklin Works, can be submitted via the “Share Feedback” button on the Franklin Works website https://franklin.uga.edu/franklin-works
