All University of Georgia staff are invited to attend UGA’s fourth annual Staff Appreciation Celebration.

An initiative of the Office of the President, the Staff Appreciation Celebration is a way for the university to say thank you to the staff.

Holmes-Hunter Lecture: Keith Parker

Keith Parker, general manager and chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, will speak. Parker was recognized as the Outstanding Public Transportation Manager by the American Public Transportation Association in 2015 and was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council in 2016.

The Commit to Georgia Campaign Kickoff

President Jere W. Morehead invites UGA faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends to a kickoff celebration for the Commit to Georgia Campaign for the University of Georgia. 

The president will give remarks at 12:45 p.m. Come learn about why the campaign matters to you.

Refreshments provided. Hairy Dawg and other special guests in attendance. Red and black attire encouraged. No registration required.

Science Learning Center Dedication

The Science Learning Center (ScLC) is a brand-new facility scheduled to open in Fall 2016. The ScLC will be open for classes August 11, with an official dedication scheduled for August 17. The Center will provide new modern learning space for core undergraduate science courses and will offer 33 separate instructional labs, including those in the Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics. The Center will also house two 280-seat tiered lecture halls and two 72-seat SCALE-UP classrooms as well as building and lab support areas and offices.

Deborah Lipstadt: "The Holocaust: An American Understanding 1945-2015"

Lipstadt-w.jpgDeborah Lipstadt, Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University presents "The Holocaust: An American Understanding 1945-2015"

Lipstadt was appointed by Presidents Clinton and Obama to successive terms on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. A BBC film adaptation of her 2006 book, "History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier," is currently in development.
