Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: New Year’s Eve Concert

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra returns to Athens for a special, fun-filled New Year’s Eve concert. The ninety-minute concert begins at 7 p.m., so attendees will be out early enough to enjoy any other traditional activities.

Concert: Avi Avital

FREE for UGA students, tickets are required (Student tickets are available 11/7), $36 for non-UGA students

Mandolin player Avi Avital is one of the world’s most exciting and adventurous musicians. He is joined by harpsichordist Kenneth Weiss, who performed at the PAC recently with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Concert: The Romeros

More than half a century after walking onto the world stage as the first classical guitar quartet, The Romeros continue to be a veritable institution in the world of classical music, dazzling countless audiences and winning the raves of reviewers worldwide. Known to millions as the “Royal Family of the Guitar,” the quartet now includes second and third generation Romeros. 

Make It An Evening with a tour and free dessert at the Georgia Museum of Art at 6 p.m.

Artrageous

Imagine an artist creating a masterpiece before your eyes in mere moments. With a palette that also mixes captivating vocals and intricate choreography, Artrageous takes audiences on a one-of-a-kind visual journey packed with wild inspiration, creativity, and fun. The Artrageous artists, musicians, singers, and dancers pay tribute to a variety of art forms, pop icons, and musical genres throughout the evening. The result is a uniquely entertaining show culminating in a gallery of fabulous finished paintings.

Performance: Rockapella

Since the early 1990s when the group first achieved national television fame on PBS's "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?," Rockapella has toured the globe and provided a funky soundtrack to generations of vocal music fans. 

With buckets of original pop songs and contemporary revisions of Motown and soul classics, Rockapella has always been the group to watch.

New Year's Eve Concert

Celebrate New Year’s Eve in a brand new way as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra comes to Hodgson Hall for this fun-filled concert. It’s a musical celebration in the spirit of the famous and ultra-popular Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Gala Concert that is broadcast worldwide to more than ninety countries. The ASO's ninety-minute program begins at 7:00 p.m. so you’ll be out early enough not to miss any of your other traditional activities. Ring in 2016 in style with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

State Ballet Theatre of Russia: "Tchaikovsky Spectacular"

Known internationally as one of Russia's leading companies, The State Ballet Theatre of Russia has thrilled Athens audiences in past visits with performances ranging from "Swan Lake" to "Romeo and Juliet" to "Cinderella." Its dancers include the prize winners of numerous Russian and international competitions. Now the acclaimed company brings its Tchaikovsky Spectacular to the Fine Arts Theatre stage in a glittering production filled with dazzling choreography, lavish sets, beautiful costumes, and some of Tchaikovsky’s most beautiful music.
